Colby College Student Residences

Construction is under way on the new Colby College Mixed Use project in downtown Waterville, Maine. The new building will be 5 stories total and will enclose approximately 104,380 GSF of area. The upper 4-stories will be utilized for student housing with 212 beds available to Colby College students. The lower level will feature student amenities including lounge and fitness area. The lower level will also feature a community forum space to allow both Colby College Students and the town of Waterville to interact with the building. The ground floor will also bring 7,520 SF of retail space to the streetscape of Main Street in downtown Waterville. The building will be founded on shallow spread column footings and strip wall footings. Becker Structural Engineers designed the superstructure utilizing precast concrete planks supported on Girder Slab® D-Beams upset into the plank to allow for efficient floor-to-floor heights.
