PORTLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY
AIA New England Award Recipient – 2013 Citation for Design Excellence
The renovation and addition featured an exposed, two-story structural steel truss framing system supporting a glass curtain wall to capture exterior space for increased building square footage. The truss frame system was connected to the existing structure in a manner to minimize penetrations through the existing granite facade. The renovation also included extensive floor penetrations, in-fills and strengthening of the lateral system as required to reconfigure the interior space and convert the building to a modern library facility.
