The 56-acre
Dirigo Pines Retirement Community consists of two major components:
the Main Inn and Cottages. These components are incorporated
as part of the Eastern Maine Medical Healthcare umbrella to provide
the residents with the healthcare access in both assisted and
independent living environments. The Main Inn offers full spectrum
assisted living accommodations and independent apartments within

of New England Lecture Hall, Portland, ME
A new 4,000
SF, 125 seat state-of-the-art lecture hall with multimedia capability.
The project includes a 2,000 SF lobby/gathering space, which
serves as the new entrance to the college of Health Professionals.
The project includes a 1,000 SF mechanical room to house a new
chiller plant to serve the existing campus buildings. The structural
system uses braced steel frames and moment resisting steel frames
to support open web steel roof joists and steel framing. A mezzanine

Library, Damariscotta, ME
A 12,000 SF
two story structure over a partial basement with and an attached
3,000 SF single story wing tying into the existing historic library
structure. Design uses a shallow steel framed structure with
elevated cast-in place concrete slabs over composite steel deck.
Roof structure is exposed steel frame with insulated stress skin
panels exposing a wood board finish. Center atrium further highlights
exposed steel and wood. Design includes upgrades to existing

Pineland
Campus, New Gloucester, Maine
Structural condition
survey of 21 existing buildings, totaling approximately 405,000
square feet of space. The facility, formerly owned by the State
of Maine, operated as a home for the mentally ill. The property
has been purchased by a private foundation and is being converted
into a business campus/educational farm. All existing buildings
are being renovated, upgraded and brought into compliance with
ADA requirements. The rework includes construction of new elevators,
stair towers, entry canopies, lobbies and wholesale additions.

Jetport Canopy Expansion, Portland, ME
With a desire
to provide greater passenger security and comfort, passenger
unloading areas were covered by an elaborate system of canopies.
Exposed steel tubular trusses support cantilevered canopies to
shelter pedestrian drop-off areas along the main terminals. Two
