Portland Jetport Canopy Structures, Portland, ME
With a desire to provide greater passenger security and comfort,
passenger unloading areas were covered by an elaborate system of
canopies.
Exposed steel tubular trusses support cantilevered canopies to shelter
pedestrian drop-off areas along the main terminals. Two arched
trusses span to the parking garage to further shelter pedestrians as
they access the parking garage. The project was expanded to include
additional canopies over a new 90 ft. expansion of the baggage claim
area.
BSE was also retained by the city to provide special inspection field
review services for the Jetport garage expansion. Our work was
performed in accordance with requirements of 1999 BOCA National
Building Code Section 1705.
BSE was responsible for detailed site
review of contruction for conformance with design documents,
identification of non-conforming work and liason between contractor,
owner and EOR for resolution of issues. Our scope also includes
coordination and oversight of material testing labs, collection of data
and issuance of monthly project reports to code officer, owner and
designers.
