une allDesign of a new 50,200 SF College of Pharmacy building and 36,000 SF College of Dental Medicine building with classrooms, laboratories and clinical learning environments located on the Portland campus.  The College of Pharmacy building is comprised of a below grade lower level, a first floor at-grade level, a second and third floor, and a mezzanine level built within the roof trusses.  The third floor is partially suspended from the roof truss system to provide column free classrooms at the second floor.  The College of Dental Medicine is the only such school in northern New England and will address the shortage of dentists in rural Maine and will offer patients access to affordable dental care, while allowing students to gain clinical experience.  The structures will support laboratory equipment of varying sensitivity.  The buildings incorporate U.S. Green Building Council LEED green building principles.
