AUGUSTA COURT FACILITY (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAConstruction has begun on the new Augusta Court Facility, a 4-story, 120,000-sf building that will connect to the historic Kennebec County Courthouse. The new consolidated court facility will be linked to the adjacent historic courthouse by a pedestrian bridge and will accommodate jury, non-jury and family courtrooms, as well as court clerk and other administrative offices, ultimately, housing functions of the Augusta district and family courts and Kennebec County Superior Court.  The site is a steep slope between Court and Winthrop Streets, behind the historic courthouse on State Street. The $55 million facility will consolidate district and superior court functions with work continuing through the end of 2014. The building will be occupied and operational in early 2015.  Renderings courtesy of PDT Architects and Architectural Rendering Services.
